Just as every stave, lid and ring is different, no two Darach pieces are the same.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBlackening \u0026amp; fungus -  Wooden barrels leak during the curing and swelling process, carrying black char dust from the interior through the seams to stain the exterior. Whisky fungus is a harmless, dark, velvety fungus which often appears on the outside of aging barrels, thriving on ambient ethanol vapours, rather than being standard mould.
